Step 1: Surf the net!
The Internet is your #1 resource to find a host company in the USA! Some good web sites below
will give you a list of openings and HR contact information,
but you can also do searches in your particular job
field:
www.monster.com
www.hotjobs.com
www.careerbuilder.com
www.hcareers.com
www.craigslist.org
Also, look at the classified section in city web sites
or local/national newspapers on line like http://www.newspaperlinks.com/voyager.cfm or on individual company and organization websites.
Step 2: Build a good resume!
Find good advice, resume and cover letter templates
here: http://www.resumecaptain.com,
but remember: PERSONALIZE AND SELL YOURSELF!
Step 3: Apply for an internship position!
Be concise and efficient! Specify the
position you are applying for, always write to a person
in particular, highlight your motivation as well as
your skills, and remind the American employer what the
benefits are for hiring international workers or trainees:
-
Highly skilled and very motivated
- They
will enrich their work environment thought cultural
diversity
- You
will arrive with full coverage health insurance
- Your
visa documentation will be entirely arranged by us.
You can guide them to our web site: www.allianceabroad.com
or ask them to contact us directly: 1 866 6ABROAD
ext 110 or internship@allianceabroad.com
If
you are looking for a training position, you may want
to call the company to talk to them, since they may
not be familiar with this type of program and its advantages.
They do not need to pay you a salary: you can arrange
for a position with no pay or simply a modest stipend
(we usually recommend $1200 - $1500 per month) which
is very cost effective for the host company. Try to
find someone in the company who can make hiring decisions.
Step 4: Come to train
in the USA!
If you don't qualify for an internship to one of our programs
in the USA, send us your job/trainee
placement offer, and we will take care of the whole
process for the visa documentation and provide you support
thoughout the program.
