July is here, and as of the end of June, all Training/Internship Placement Plans (T/IPP) are an official part of an Exchange Visitor’s SEVIS record for all future J1 Interns and Trainees.   The Department of State released a newly approved form. DS7002 Training-Internship Placement Plan – 4 phases

The goal of the State Department is to have a T/IPP that is a true representation of what the Intern or Trainee will learn and experience while on the program.

For host companies utilizing this program, here’s a summary of the changes:

  • Requiring the name, contact information and signature of the supervisor per phase.  This allows you to provide the actual supervisor per phase rather than only the primary contact, who may be from a department like Human Resources where the participant is not actually training.
  • Likewise, if the site of activity changes between phases, this can now be easily reported.
  • Ability to include non-monetary compensation in the section on compensation
  • A revised “I certify” signature section for host companies

Stay tuned for upcoming changes to the host company portal regarding the creation of T/IPPs.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact your AAG Account Manager.
