Our programs outside of the USA are now under the
umbrella of our new non- profit organization: ASSOCIATION
OF INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND EXCHANGE.
AIDE
was created in 2007 in order to allow Alliance Abroad
Group to expand its reach and to give back to the
local and global communities, as well as create socially
responsible citizens. AIDE now operates independently
from Alliance Abroad Group, but continues to draw
from its 16 years of expertise and experience in program
management and support.
Take
your enthusiasm and passion for learning and helping
people to Ecuador, where you can work on a healthcare
project that will allow you to experience first hand
the challenges of the healthcare system here.
You
and your group members can spend anywhere from 2 weeks
to 4 weeks providing assistance to doctors and nurses
in local hospitals and medical clinics. Depending
on Spanish level and experience, you will be able
to rotate through the emergency room, pediatrics,
obstetrics, internal medicine, and even surgery, gaining
experience by both observing a variety of procedures,
and at times providing direct assistance to the physicians.
*** Please note that specific details, such as exact
work hours and the type of work, can only be determined
by expertise, skills, and attitude. Also, some programs
do have special requirements that need to be accepted.
*** Number of participants for group programs is flexible
for up to 10 people. If you would like to arrange
a program for a group of more than 10 people, AAG
will be happy to assist you in creating a customized
program for your group’s needs. All applications
for a large group must be received at least 3 1/2
months in advance of program start date. Please contact
an AAG representative for more information.

Visa
Documentation:
Most tourist visas are valid for up to 90 days. If
you are interested in a longer program, we will assist
you in applying for a visa extension of another 90
days. Please note that you will need to apply for
any visa extensions in Quito, and our in-country representative
will assist you. We recommend checking with your local
Ecuadorian consulate for the most up to date visa
information.
Language
Classes:
Optional language classes are available in Quito.
Language classes are a great way to be introduced
to a new country and improve your Spanish skills.
Classes are held prior to starting your volunteer
work and will be held in groups of 5 or less. Classes
are 15 hours per week (3 hours/day) for an additional
USD$400/week and include homestay accommodations and
meals. [return

Please contact your AAG Representative for more information
on the tours that are available. Tours are a great
way to experience the local culture and natural wonders
of Ecuador, and are a very economical way to see more
of this beautiful country.
You may choose to schedule a tour for anywhere from
a few days to over a week, the choice is yours! We
find that many of our participants choose to participate
in a short-term volunteer project, and then enjoy
tours on the weekend or after they have completed
the time they committed to the project.
Some tours you may consider scheduling include trips
to: Banos, a small town in the Andes with hot springs
and tons of hiking and biking opportunities; Mindo,
a beautiful village in the cloud forest with several
waterfalls, tubing, a butterfly house and parks for
bird watching; Cotopaxi National Park, which has the
tallest active volcano in the world; Quilotoa, a crater
lake; Otavalo, the largest market in Ecuador; Cuenca,
the third largest city in Ecuador, that is known as
the "Athens of Ecuador"; Machalilla National
Park, which is the second biggest marine reserve in
Ecuador after Galapagos; and Cajas National Park,
which has over 200 lagoons and beautiful panoramas.

Funding
your experience:
For many, the most difficult part of embarking
on an international journey is being able to fund
your experience abroad. Luckily, there are many
organizations and individuals out there who are
happy to donate money to a good cause, like yours.
